How a Video Call Travels Across the World
When you start a video call, your device changes your voice and picture into tiny data packets. These packets travel through the internet, hopping from one server to another, like a relay race. Each server looks at the packet’s address and sends it closer to the other person. The journey may pass through many countries, but the data moves so fast that you barely notice any delay. When the packets reach the other side, the recipient’s device puts the data back together, showing your face and playing your voice in real time. The whole process happens in a few seconds, letting you talk to someone thousands of kilometres away as if they were in the same room.
