Getting Ready for Your First Race

Preparing for a first race can be exciting and a bit scary. First, choose a comfortable pair of shoes and test them on a few training runs. Next, plan a simple training schedule: run three times a week, mix short fast runs with longer, slower ones. Make sure to stretch before and after each run to avoid injuries. A few days before the race, reduce the distance – this is called a taper – so your body can rest. On race day, eat a light breakfast, arrive early, and warm up with a short jog and some dynamic stretches. Keep a steady pace, listen to your breathing, and enjoy the experience. Remember, finishing is more important than winning your first time!
