What do the levels mean?
Levels follow the Common European Framework (CEFR). Universities, employers and immigration offices recognise this scale. Word counts are approximate; what matters is what you can actually do with the language.

- You introduce yourself and handle simple everyday phrases.
- A2about 1.000 words
- You get by in familiar situations: shopping, directions, work.
- B1about 2.000 words
- You handle most travel situations alone and explain your opinion with reasons.
- B2about 4.000 words
- You follow discussions in your field and understand complex texts.
- C1about 8.000 words
- You speak fluently and naturally; university and work are no obstacle.
- C2about 16.000 words
- Close to native: you catch fine shades of meaning and humour.
